The price of a ticket is set by the event organisers. They don't pay us anything to sell their tickets, so in order to function See has to charge on top of the face value of the ticket. We do this on a per-ticket basis to allow us to provide a 24/7 booking service and order processing, this also covers our staff, customer services, credit card commissions and all the other costs associated with running our business. The actual amount we charge is negotiated with the venue or promoter for each individual event, and it is non-refundable in the event of a cancellation.
It is announced that ‘The Dream Jazz Collective’ shall descend upon The Talking Heads on the night of Saturday 18th February for an evening of music, spiritual and social consciousness raising and community boogieing.
Based around the music and presence of Southampton-born Jelly Cleaveron guitar and vocals, the band comprise Seth Evans on keys (keyboard and computer), Nikita Foster Losak on bass and Guillaume Trionfo on drums. Though their current home on this earth is in London, they draw happily from several nationalities. It is difficult to describe their music in words, you may call it whatever you want that has meaning to you, we shall call it, ‘Dream Jazz’.
Southampton shall be their third official stop on their first UK tour, promoting love and also the release of their debut single, ‘Angela’, dedicated to civil rights and social activist and educator, Angela Davis.
They shall be joined by two groups of groove specialists from the Southampton music scene.
Red Letter is a six-piece space-funk machine made up of Jamie Wall on trumpet and guitar, Beth Hopkins on alto sax, Josh Pike on Guitar, Chris Lucas on keys, Sian Unwin on bass and synth bass, and Adam Skinner on Drums. They undulate between complex, multi-textured layers and raw grooves, with their intrepid soloists going on far-out searchings outside of the mere chords. Skilled veterans, having already supported the likes of Roller Trio, WorldService Project and Gary Crosby, they have promised to make this night particularly rowdy for us.
Joining them shall also be the VV Experience, with VVilhelm on trombone/electronics, Issac Harrison on tenor/EWI, Rob Eastgate on bari/synths, Morgan Rickman on guitar, Nyle Bevan-Clark on keys, Robin Breeze on bass and Jon Pilgrim on drums. This eight-piece shall allow you to experience a colliding fusion of jazz, floating on some electronic beats. They’ll be spinning between originals and reworked covers from fellow soul-brothers Kamasi Washington, BadBadNotGood and Robert Glasper.
Rounding off the evening shall be a collection of disco beats gathered from the four corners of this earth. We are anticipating spontaneous scenes of jubilation.
Tickets shall be £5 through The Talking Heads website or £6 on the door.
