Tonic Music for Mental Health presents Senser

Don't Miss Out
Time: Saturday 7.00pm
Cost: £12.00 in Advance | More on the Door

Tonic Music for Mental Health proudly present a new year Tonic Fundraiser with very special guests, Senser, back on the South Coast and at The Talking Heads, Southampton. Senser (fronted by co-vocalists Heitham Al-Sayed and Kerstin Haigh) have been a force to be reckoned with since their debut album ‘Stacked Up’ crashed into the UK Charts at number 4, giving the band a platinum selling smash in 1995. With cover features in NME and Melody Maker, and a touring schedule that saw them hit the road with the likes of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against The Machine, The Levellers, Tool and Moby – not to mention playing Reading, Download festivals and SIX slots at Glastonbury – the band have honed and sharpened their live assault and song writing chops and are back with new material and a tour and this February they are back on the South Coast where they haven’t been for some time. If you never got to see them back in the day we recommend seeing them now. http://www.senser.co.uk/

Warming us up gently before Senser are the fantastic and local, The High Wire Act. In their own words ‘Between the bins and the stars are The High Wire Act. Following on from stunning British acts such as Suede, Manic Street Preachers & The Smiths. Writing tales of love, lust, laundry, despair and beauty, The High Wire Act are one of Britain’s finest. Robert, Michael and Patrick have created soaring songs of love, life, death and beyond with beautiful intricacy and natural technical ability. The Hampshire based trio have songs to dye your hair to, cry to and fall in love to.

A perfect warm up for the main act 🙂 https://www.facebook.com/thehighwireact/

And to keep everyone jumping before,in between and after the bands is none other than DJ Jay from the South Coast’s longest running Indie/Alternative and award winning club night, Chaos. “Chaos was THE South Coast Saturday indie & alternative night. Conceived in 1991 it reigned in Southsea for 20 years. The club night and it’s Dj’s provided the soundtrack from the grunge generation through the Brit pop years of indie dance crossover into Big beat and then onto Nu Metal. Often Imitated, but never bettered – CHAOS ruled !” https://www.facebook.com/Chaosclubsouthsea/

The evening will include a fundraising raffle with some fantastic prizes kindly donated by Senser. and also the chance to win some Tonic merch. If you are unlucky in the raffle our own Tonic merch stall will be there with plenty of goodies to purchase and plenty of Tonic crew on hand to chat more about what we do.

So what does Tonic do?

Tonic Music for Mental Health is a not-for-profit organisation based in the South-Coast of England and established in 2012. We are honoured to have both Terry Hall (The Specials) and Kevin Cummins (Music Photographer) as our patrons. Tonic raises awareness and challenges the stigma often associated with mental illness through music and art based events. We organise music workshops, gigs, art groups, and community projects throughout the year for people experiencing mental health problems. Tonic supports musicians and artists by funding art and music projects that helps individual recovery and enables the individual to earn an income through their craft. In the current climate of austerity measures and government cuts, services available to people with mental health problems are often limited and hard to access. We aim to support people who may already be receiving input from mental health services and those who have not had any previous contact to provide an inclusive support network to help people through their recovery.

We look forward to welcoming you all to this very special evening.
