FORMER ENUFF Z'NUFF GUITARIST RETURNS TO UK FOR POWER POP ONSLAUGHT
£4 on the door entry.
TRASHPIT MAGAZINE are very proud to announce that former ENUFF Z'NUFF Guitarist JOHNNY MONACO will be returning to the UK for his very first solo headline tour this May.
www.johnnymonaco.com
Monaco was the lead guitarist and eventually lead singer for the band during his 12 year stint with Enuff Z'Nuff touring extensively throughout the US, Europe & Japan. After leaving the band in 2008 Johnny continued to front his own pop band and released his debut solo CD, "Overrated". Edgy, sharp witted power pop for the 21st century with a flair for sugary choruses and ultra catchy melodies.
Monaco has not toured the UK since back in 2007 and this will be music fans first chance to hear his perfect pop/rock gems that combine elements of British Invasion song craft and today's latest studio trickery. Johnny's music has a familiarity to it, yet is all together his own. Songs about love, life, lust, boredom and suburbia sit side by side with songs of distant planet aliens and dream demons! In Johnny's musical world, any subject is fair game, and he delivers with a style and swagger that is hard to resist.
JOHNNY MONACO & THE TRAITORS will be performing throughout the UK from May 11th through May 20th.
Joining him on this much anticipated tour will be Magic Eight Ball and Young Lust at selected dates.

Ethereal, dreamlike folk rock from Paris produced by John Parish…
"…diaphanous and ethereal ballads…folk compositions treated in the spirit of cabaret.”
- Rock & Folk, France
"...a wild side that contrasts with sweetness, while remaining deeply sensitive and melodic."
- Rock'n'France
Cleo T is from Paris and performs music that sits somewhere between ethereal folk & dark cabaret. Through broken waltzes and melancholic melodies it takes on a dreamlike quality. The album, Songs of Gold and Shadow was produced by John Parish who is probably best known for his work with PJ Harvey and Robert Wyatt. In fact, Robert Wyatt wrote the lyrics of the hidden album track So Long Ago Yesterday specifically for Cleo.
The album features some great musicians in addition to Cleo T herself - CLEO : Vocals – Piano – Auto harp – Thérémin, crystal glasses, VALENTIN AL MIGHTY : Cello – Banjo – Mandolin, ERIC BIRDREAM : Drums & Percussions, MITCH POTIER : Double bass, NICOLAS LAFERRERIE : Guitars, GREGOR AUTEY : Acoustic Guitar, HERVE MAZUREL : , PETE JUDGE : Trumpet, and a brief cameo as part of the ‘choir’ from JOHN PARISH.

Britain's leading exponents of Cumbia, the rootsy music most closely associated with Colombia. Featuring sensational Colombian vocalist Antonio Porras from Bogota, percussionist Gregorio Merchan, who has played drums for Shakira and accordionist Oren Stone who has played in Boyaca and Rio Negro. Atlantico's musicians are influenced by many varieties of music including jazz, rock, soul, African and Latin giving the band a real edge. The dynamic line up includes two Latin percussionists and three horn players together with accordion, double bass and piano. Atlantico present "Music Tropical" at it's very steamiest and most contagious. You just won't be able to sit still when this band is playing. Whether they are locked into the back-beat of Cumbia, galloping through the loping rhythm of a porro, or throwing in some Mambo, merengue or Colombia's own style of Salsa, you have to get up and move to the joyful rhythm. As sensuous, swaying and spirited as a sultry Colombian night. Put on your dancing shoes and catch this infectious ensemble now. No dance lessons needed. Baila mi Cumbia.
DJ William from Cuba brings the latin beats salsa, merengue, mambo, reggaeton and more

Representing a culture that likes its music real, Rozii Chaos is a young lady with an appetite to move the boundary between ROCK & POP. Alive and full of energy, backed by instruments plugged into
classic amplifiers, she sets pulses racing. You find powerful themes and listenable melodies and a music roller coaster to challenge your world.
Mean and moody or happy go-lucky, her killer perspective gives an optimistic edge to each song. Never a slave to rules she sees are simply outdated, expect great drum patterns, amazing guitar riffs, and strong vocals that enchant, then lure and ambush the listener. So beware, many under her spell find it difficult to let go. So if you are stuck whinging about the mundane give Rozii a spin and renew a passion for a music culture you thought may have been lost forever.
Signed to US based 'Out Of The Box Records' Rozii's Ep 'Sweet & Tempered' is on Worldwide release and her single 'Somebody to love' is available from 24th April 2012. The Jefferson Airplane cover was given the endorsement by Grace Slick herself along with Legendary Bassist Terry Nails. Terry Knew a great artist in Grace sees the same talent in Rozii commenting “she will be a great force in the industry”. Having worked with some of the greats such as Ozzie Osborne, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Janis Joplin, This is great praise indeed.

THE NIGHTINGALES

http://louderthanwar.com/album-of-the-day-the-nightingales-no-love-lost-album-review/
With an ever fluctuating line up, based around lyricist/singer Robert Lloyd, the Nightingales enjoyed cult status in the early '80's as darlings of the credible music scene and were championed by John Peel, who said of them - "Their performances will serve to confirm their excellence when we are far enough distanced from the 1980's to look at the period rationally and other, infinitely better known, bands stand revealed as charlatans".
In the late Eighties the Nightingales stopped working but, following the occasional gig between times, they re-grouped in 2004, with Lloyd being joined by original Prefects guitarist Alan Apperley.
After fucking about with various wastrels, precious sorts and mercenaries the group arrived at it's current line up, which features Lloyd, Apperley, Andreas Schmid (from Faust Studio) on bass, ex Violet Violet drummer Fliss Kitson and guitarist Matt Wood.
Since restarting the group have been more productive than ever - releasing five 7" vinyl singles, a 10" EP and three studio albums (Plus two live albums), touring England, mainland Europe and USA numerous times, recording many radio sessions along the way. Their "Let's Think About Living" 45 was 'Single Of The Week' on BBC 6 Music and they have continued to receive regular rave reviews for their records and live shows.
The group's new album "No Love Lost" is released by Cooking Vinyl on 30 April 2012. Described by Mojo as "Brilliant. One of the fiercest and most exhilarating rock records in ages".
DOYLE and the FOUR FATHERS
A Southampton based band receiving national acclaim. Arguably the citys Most Likely to…since Delays. Formed in September 2009. The band are consists of Lead singer and songwriter William Doyle, Guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Ben Clark, and Drummer Alex Urch. “Temporary” bassist the enigmatic Kosmic Karl may or may not still be with the band at the time of this gig. We shall see.
Inspired by all great and enduring artists of the last 60 years (the Kinks, Scott Walker, the Smiths, the Divine Comedy…) the band’s sound is a refreshingly honest coalescence of nostalgia and innovation. Their music presents a diverse sonic palette, yet is always underpinned by assured and evocative songcraft.
The first single came out in October ‘10 as 7" , CD and download and is still available. ‘The Governor of Giving Up’ was a much improved version of that on the first record. It got plenty of play on BBC 6 Music (where it was described as ‘an absolute whopper’ by Marc Riley) and a number of other stations.
2011 saw promise being delivered – including an album, Man Made, released in February. The rest of the year saw the lads gigging relentlessly including an exceptionally well-received support for The Undertones - a triumphant set of UK-wide shows.
The Olympics Critical EP is being released through Star Rover at the end of April . Expect glowing reviews in the press shortly.

Doctor Blu were formed originally as a duo in 1999 by Dave ‘Doc’ Martin (guitar/vocal) and Rich Stickler (keys/bass) with the addition of Tom Shrimpton (drums) a short time later. Following a client request to include a guest saxophone, Paul Tasker (tenor sax) was quickly invited to join as a full-time member in 2009. The band performs an exciting fusion of blues, soul, funk and jazz featuring both original material and a careful selection of covers from across the decades. Last year they produced and released their first CD ‘Odd One Out’ featuring some of the most popular and requested songs from their set and a self-penned original title track from the studio. The band is currently in the process of compiling a 2nd album, this time concentrating mostly on original songs.
The band members have previously enjoyed a collective wealth of experience over the years playing at prestigious venues such as the Marquee Club in London, the National Symphony Hall in Birmingham, the famous Swing 46 Club in New York, Cunard cruise ships and major international hotels.
This quartet produces a sound that is big and bold – however this performance will see the addition of talented guests, including Steve Shrimpton (percussion) who until recently performed regularly with the well-known cumbia band ‘Atlantico’. Others guests are planned and these will be confirmed in the near future.
